This short 3 song concept EP was inspired by the incredible handpans I get to play-the length of time I will have with each handpan is unknown when I receive them.

Sometimes a few days, a week or a month. Some I build an instantaneous bond with a pan and compositions come flowing out upon first touch...sometimes I never bond with them very deeply and they continue on their way.

I am moved by the fact that they are never "mine"...at first when we began to receive them from the maker I held on so tight...almost tried not to sell them in hopes I would get to be with them longer.

Over time I became less precious about it and began to embrace the transitory quality of these handpans in my life. I began to embrace the moments, experiences and music that we did share. I began to understand that each pan would have a life beyond me-other people it would move with it’s harmonics and haptics.

I feel this experience mirrors nature-the coming and going, ebbing and flowing so I paired these tracks with nature sound to emphasize the ephemeral quality of this offering. I love how the harmonics of the handpan dance with the harmonics of the handpan.

I felt EPHEMERA captured the feeling of something only used for a short time period that holds a certain sentimental value of that time, place, space. The songs I compose with our time together are EPHEMERA.

This pan solely featured on this album is a Stainless E Sabye from Hamsa Handpans.
